1. The original file
Preserve the source before changing it.
The rows mix price formats and units. R03 repeats R02's product details, R04 has no price, and the SKU on R05 has extra spaces. The source download keeps those values intact.

Quotation marks above make spaces and leading zeros easier to see. Import CSV columns as text when opening the source, so spreadsheet software does not alter product codes.
2. The review
Make the decisions visible.
Formatting can be corrected using confirmed units and conventions. Duplicate removal and missing product facts need a recorded decision. In this example, one confirmed duplicate is omitted and the item without a price stays out of the draft.

3. The prepared draft
Four variants, grouped into two products.
Leading zeros remain in the mug SKUs. Prices use a consistent decimal format and weights are in grams. The two mug colours share one product handle. The two towel colours share another.

This table is a preview. The download uses Shopify column headers and includes option fields, draft status and online-store publication set to false. Row references stay in the report, not in the import file.

The held item
No price was guessed and no zero price was substituted. Six source rows reconcile to four prepared variants, one confirmed duplicate and one held item.
4. The next step in a real job
Review, test a small sample, then verify it in the store.
The prepared file has not been imported into Shopify. A real job continues with merchant approval, a small test containing complete products and their variants, and a check of the processing report and resulting product data.
This example assumes:
- Fictional supplier data and owner decisions. This is not a customer result.
- New products in an assumed CAD store. These files do not update an existing catalogue.
- The fictional owner confirms that 24,00 means CAD 24.00 and approves removing R03 as a duplicate of R02.
- The fictional owner approves Color variants, physical shipping and manual fulfillment for the included products.
- Source SKUs are text identifiers. Leading zeros are preserved.
- All included products are drafts and are not published to the online store.
- Images, inventory quantities, tax settings and sales channels need a separate merchant review before sale.
- File structure has been checked locally. No live Shopify import has been performed.
